All-in-one vape vs cartridge

Same oil, two kinds of hardware. One is ready out of the box. The other needs a battery but costs less to keep going.

2 parts

A cartridge needs a separate 510 battery. An all-in-one is one piece.

The basics

What each one actually is

A cartridge (cart) is a small glass or plastic tank of oil with a heating coil and mouthpiece. It does nothing on its own. It screws onto a 510 thread battery, the most common vape battery standard, which powers the coil.

An all-in-one (AIO) puts the oil, the coil and the battery in one sealed device. Nothing to screw on, nothing to match. Many all-in-ones are rechargeable so you can finish the whole gram, and most are made to be used until the oil is gone and then recycled.

People also call all-in-ones "disposables." The oil inside can be the same distillate, live resin or rosin you find in carts. What changes is the hardware around it.

Picking one

Which should you buy?

Pick an all-in-oneIf you are new to vapes, want zero setup, or want one device that just works.
Pick a cartridgeIf you already own a 510 battery, vape often, or like to switch strains without buying new hardware.
Flavor first?Look at the oil, not the hardware. Live resin and rosin carry more of the plant's terpenes than plain distillate.
Low and slowWhatever you pick, take short draws and wait a few minutes before the next one.

A common mistake is buying a cartridge with no battery at home. If you do not have one, a first all-in-one is the simpler start. If you already vape most days, a good 510 battery pays for itself.

Good questions

Quick answers

Is an all-in-one vape the same as a disposable?

Mostly, yes. Both names describe a device with the oil and battery built in. Many all-in-ones can be recharged so you can finish the oil, then the device is recycled.

Do I need a battery for a cartridge?

Yes. A cartridge needs a 510 thread battery to work. All-in-ones do not, because the battery is built in.

Which is cheaper, a cart or an all-in-one?

Over time, carts usually cost less because you buy the battery once. An all-in-one includes new hardware every time, but there is nothing else to buy.

Do all-in-ones hit as hard as carts?

The strength comes from the oil, not the hardware. Check the THC on the label and take small draws either way.

Where can I buy Legacy Genetix all-in-ones?

Only at Wellgreens dispensaries in San Diego County and through Wellgreens delivery. Order at wellgreens.store.
